LETTER FROM EDITOR

Dear Subscribers;

I know just what's happening to you now. Your hands are trembling, perspiration is upon your brow, yes... yes... you've finally received that April issue in July! Congratulations! It was a trial for both of us! As you waited, persistently tapping your toe, my desk was flooded with letters along the line of the following:

        "I hate to be a pest, but I've not received..."

"Am sorry to bother you about the April quarterly, but here it is with nearly all of May gone and  I haven't received..."
I'm the one who hated it. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience it caused you. Excuses often confuse an issue. Let me just say an education at Wentworth is a full time job. in addition to school, there was work at Wentworth which kept me busy three weeks after school's dismissal.

All of issue Number 1 has been mailed. Unfortunately mail service has been exceptionally poor and about 25% of all subscribers needed to have another issue mailed, The Index for Volume I has been completed and mailed. Those who were members through the 1972 year and resubscribed should have received their Index. Others who would like to have the Index please send a check in the amount of $1.00 payable to the Brooks Family Bulletin. If you have not received any issue of this publication, please notify me at once.

You will notice the return address says The Brooks Family Historical Society. This change has allowed us to qualify for the Library Rate according to U.S. Postal regulations. Mailing expenses have been cut considerably as a result. It now costs less to mail one normal size BFB than a 1st class letter.

The July issue, (I hope and pray it will be out in July), will be the largest single issue of the BFB yet. I hope you enjoy this belated issue and again, my sincere apologies.

Your Editor,

Jeffrey P. Brooks

Callahan, Mrs. Henry, 1020 S. 3rd. Avenue, Souix Falls, SD, 57105. When I wrote bef, I knew nothing of the relatives of Lavinia Morrison man to Brooks. One ch, Celia, m a Hamilton. Well, last month I found the whole bunch up in NY with a lady most inter-esting a happy I found them. I called her by phone and that was great enjoyment. And the crazy thing is she knows nothing of her grt grf Brooks either, as he also d very young as my grf Charles Morrison d, Lovinia's 1st hus. So here I am trying to find Brooks and nobody knows his name. Just that Lovinia and him m maybe in Rensselaer Co., NY or maybe St. Lawrence Co., NY. Now how is that for looking for a needle in a hay stack? As time goes by and my cousin in or near DeKaIb - Hermon NY looks around for cemeteries and such, she might find his stone. I hope I can get up there in a year ot two, maybe three. It reached one of those times, "I am just dying to get to the cenetery." So, my Brooks may be someone lost relative in NY and I hope I

out who the fellow is so I can help someone else. I'll let you know if I find anything out. This cousin said she heard her father talking about the death of this Boooks I know so little about. A bunch were diging a well. They had put in three sticks of dynamite. They went off so they thought; Brooks climbed into the well and one stick of dynamite they figured later had not went off, exploed Brooks to pieces. I guess after that, Lovina decided she had enough of young husband's dying; she never remarried. Most Sincerely, Mrs. Henry Callahan.
