The Brooks Historical Archive and Reference LibraryThe Brooks Genealogy Historical Archive is dedicated to the preservation of genealogical and historical information relating to the Brook, Brooke, Brooks, Brookes, and all other variations of the 'BROOKS' surname and their related family lines. The official publication of the Brooks Genealogy Historical Archive is the BROOKS HISTORIAN, a quarterly publication containing research data and queries for the benefit of the friends of the Brooks Genealogy Historical Archive and Reference Library. The Brooks Historian quarterly newsletter had it's beginnings in Lexington, MO, in 1972, Mr. Jeffery P. Brooks. In 1980 the stewardship of the organization (then known as the Brooks Family Bulletin) was passed to Ms. Karen Rocher of Ft. Scott, Kansas. The publication name was changed to The Brooks Family Query Exchange and an organization was established as The Brooks Historical Society and Library. Ms. Rocher published the magazine until Feb. of 1982 when she passed the editorship to Ms. Madeline S. Mills of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Due to difficulties, Ms. Mills was unable to continue publication and passed it on to Mr. Hays Brooks of Millersville, MD. Hays Brooks worked on it until 1989. In 1991 He began it anew with Madeline S. Mills. At that time the current name The BROOKS HISTORIAN was adopted. In Oct of 1992 the publication and Library was transferred to Bill Brooks of Vista, CA. ( That's me... ) I continued the quarterly for 4 years and passed it on to Dixie Judge of Minden/Gardnerville, Nevada. Dixie published it until 1998 where she discontinued the publication due to falling membership. Dixie Judge, Virginia Lewis and Madeline Mills have contributed the entire collection of the Library and all it's holdings to the Church of the Latter Day Saints, (The Mormons) Family History Center in Salt Lake, Utah. Any materials that she had can be located there in Salt Lake.I am creating a new organization out of the old. I don't believe the research for BROOKS ancestors is finished.... It's only just begun.. Those that wish to join can contact me at webmaster@brookshistorian.orgThe Brooks Historian is published 4 times a year - Jan, Apr, Jul., & Nov. Member dues are collected to offset printing costs but the officers donate their time and never accepted wages for the management or creation of the publication. The Brooks Historian was always available only by volume (1 year/4 issues). Reprints of the Brooks Historian, The Brooks Query Exchange, or the Brooks Family Bulletin are available from 1972 to date except for the years it was not in print. Currently I don't have copies of the issues that Dixie Judge did but if anyone out there wishes to contribute them I will put them on-line.The Brooks Historical Archive and its officers cannot be responsible or in any way guarantee the accuracy of contributed information appearing in the Brooks Historian, however, every effort is and was made to strive for accuracy and authenticity. The Brooks Historian cannot be responsible for the publishing rights of material furnished by our contributors. This web site was established 1-22-99 as a meeting point for the active and inactive members of the BROOKS FAMILY HISTORICAL SOCIETY and anyone else who has an interest in BROOKS Genealogy or the related surnames, descendants and ancestors of the BROOKS surname.QUERIES
